Marketing and Outreach Intern, Mariposa, Mariposa Food Co-op,
Philadelphia, PA

The Marketing and Outreach Internship is an exciting professional
opportunity for someone seeking to develop marketing, event planning and
community-building skills. We are seeking a talented individual who
loves people, food, democratic decision-making and helping others get
excited about food justice. This is an administrative position based out
of our offices at 4824 Baltimore Ave, Philadelphia PA 19143.

This position is an unpaid semester/quarterly-based internship (10-15
hours a week), to begin in January/February 2012 and to end in April/May
2012. Individuals who are not enrolled in an academic program are
welcome to apply.

Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with planning and communication around our events and
programs
- Assisting with the development of successful sales events and
promotions
- Scheduling workshifters for marketing purposes
- Co-managing our publications, including our quarterly newsletter
- Co-managing relations with surrounding local businesses
- Co-managing press relations and external contacts
- Other administrative duties as needed

Basic Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Docs
- Self-starter: Someone who does not need micromanagement to get things
done
- Receptive: Someone who is open to direct management and suggestions
- Experience organizing volunteers
- Ability to work effectively in teams as well as independently
- Demonstrated commitment to/interest in food access, food justice,
social justice, cooperatives, and consensus based decision-making

Preferred (but not required) Qualifications:

- Previous retail sales experience, particularly in visual marketing
- Experience with social media, blogging and the Wordpress blogging
platform
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign software
- Graphic design experience
- Event planning experience

Compensation:

- Subsidized Mariposa membership equity ($200 value)
- Working-member discount for length of internship
- $20-30/week store credit with minimum 10 hours
- College credit available, for individuals who are enrolled in an
academic program
