Job Description
OSA’s Marketing Department is seeking a Public and Government Relations Coordinator. The coordinator provides support in the development and implementation of external communications to enhance press coverage of key OSA initiatives and raise awareness of OSA, optics and the value of scientific R&D initiatives among key government audiences. Responsibilities include monitoring and reporting on key legislative initiatives, coordinating Congressional Fellowships program, assisting OSA’s Pubic Policy Committee, coordinating volunteer Capitol Hill visits, writing press releases and other communications materials, monitoring and reporting on media coverage for the organization, enhancing social media efforts, and tradeshow public relations.
The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of Capitol Hill and the legislative process and experience working in public policy, PR, media relations or communications. Strong written communication and proof-reading skills are critical. The coordinator requires strong verbal communication skills as this position deals with the press, Congressional and Administration staff, outside vendors, and volunteer members. Experience working with online press clipping services and reporter database search services preferred. The coordinator position requires detail orientation and ability to multi-task in a fast paced-environment.
Job Requirements
