It provides education in gemology, jewelry design and manufacture, through campuses in Carlsbad, New York, Hong Kong, India, United Kingdom, Taiwan, Thailand and Dubai as well as through licensed schools in other locations. It also provides research in gemology.


JOB SUMMARY
GIA is seeking a public relations professional with 2 – 3 years of PR agency experience. The ideal candidate is social media savvy, demonstrates superb oral and writing skills, has the ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment at a company with global reach. Candidate must also have media relations experience. We value integrity, dependability, dedication and a high level of professionalism.


Responsibilities:
· Social Media Integration
Assists the PR department with social media program. Monitors social media dialogue, publishes social media posts, and measures findings.

· Media Monitoring
Monitors and tracks media coverage in print and web media outlets using media research channels (i.e. Cision, Meltwater, Radian6, Burelles Luce); creates media coverage tracking reports on findings; assists in monitoring social media alerts and conversations.

· Research
Researches and updates media lists and editorial calendars; researches media outlets and reporters for interviews.

· Writing
Writes and edits various kinds of written materials, including background media documents, key messaging, interview prep documents, presentations, content for social media sites, etc. that adhere to The Associated Press style guidelines.

· Media Relations Support
Works with Visual Resource Library team on providing media image requests; assists with PR department efforts in pitching programs/events to local, national and international media; handles coordination/set-up of media interviews.

· Administrative
Organizes PR files; processes paperwork for vendor invoices, and provides other administrative support, as needed.

· Communication
Communicates effectively, gets along with coworkers and management, and deals with others effectively and professionally under pressure.

Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree (B.A. /B.S.) from four-year college or university; preferably in Journalism, English, Public Relations, Communications or related fields; and three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


2-3 years of public relations experience (PR agency, corporate experience is preferred). Experience working in public relations in the jewelry/gemological industry and luxury market is desired, as is experience working for a public relations agency on clients in luxury market.


Strong writing, editing, and communications skills.


Outstanding attention to detail; strong organizational and time management skills.


Ability to multitask, anticipate needs, switch gears and react immediately; deadline-oriented to meet multiple deadlines.


Ability to take initiative and follow through, be flexible, and possess a high level of professionalism.


Ability to work independently and within a team with superior interpersonal and listening skills who can work productively and closely with all employees at any level within the Institute.


Knowledge of digital still and video cameras.


Ability to travel, domestically and/or internationally.


Social media savvy.


Possesses integrity and pride as a PR practitioner.


Proficiency in software applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Cision, Meltwater, Radian6 and Adobe.
