Internship, START, College Park, MD

START is seeking a communication intern for the Fall of 2011. This is an unpaid, for-credit communication internship with the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START), a Center of Excellence of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security based at the University of Maryland.

START will be hiring 1-2 interns for the fall. Interns will help with public relations for START, which may include but is not limited to:
  1. .Assisting with preparation of materials for presentations 
  2. .Writing/editing press releases
  3. .Developing media kits
  4. .Distribution of communication materials to internal and external publics .Event assistance and attendance 
  5. .Assistance with social media and updating START website
Interns are expected to work at least 10 hours per week on a schedule agreed upon between the intern and supervisor.  Interns will assist the Outreach Coordinator with all the above mentioned duties, as well as additional duties as assigned.
