CommunicationWorks, L.L.C. has an immediate opening for the position of Associate. Established in 1996, CommunicationWorks, L.L.C. is a full-service public affairs firm located in Washington, D.C. that specializes in promoting policy and programs for improvement in the areas of education, youth, and civil rights. Clients include national and international nonprofits, foundations, think tanks, colleges and universities, corporations, and federal and state government agencies and commissions.

Overall Responsibility: Assist with project task and management responsibilities through research, writing, and outreach to constituencies and clients.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
¡ Developing and writing client materials, including policy research and statements; informational, identity and promotional materials; and media and other outreach materials
¡ Conducting research for various projects
¡ Assisting in managing client projects, budgets, and timelines
¡ Setting up events and event logistics
¡ Assisting in media outreach activities and pitch calling
¡ Assisting in developing proposals for new business

Skills and Knowledge:
¡ Strong writing and research skills
¡ Media and social media experience
¡ Experience in media outreach and developing website content and using social media tools and metrics.
¡ Experience in communications and/or education and education policy, health, youth issues, or related field preferred; strong interest in these areas essential
¡ Ability to communicate effectively with other staff, clients, and the public
¡ Ability to work successfully on multiple projects at the same time
¡ A high degree of self-motivation and ability to manage time effectively
¡ Knowledge of K-12 and higher education issues, policy, and trends a plus

Requirements:
¡ Four-year college degree in social sciences, humanities, or communications, including some education and/or journalism studies or experience
¡ At least one year of experience in public affairs, public relations, communications, or journalism preferred
