Marketing and Communications Internship
Description:
The Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO) creates opportunities for underserved business owners and aspiring business owners across the United States through advocacy and services. Its network is comprised of over 400 non-profit member organizations around the country that provide capital and services to Main Street businesses.  For more information on AEO, visit www.aeoworks.org.
Summary:
AEO is seeking a part-time marketing and communications intern for the 2012-13 academic year.  Internship (15-24 hours/week) will accommodate a flexible schedule, and begin as soon as possible and go through May of 2013.  Marketing, communications, business and journalism majors are invited to apply. Candidates should have an interest in brand marketing, strategic communications, entrepreneurship, microfinance, or economic development. Candidates should also demonstrate enthusiasm for learning about the industry, have strong knowledge and understanding of the digital media landscape, be active on multiple social media platforms, enjoy brainstorming new ideas and solutions to problems, and follow-through on assignments.
What we're looking for:
We are seeking an intern to support the execution of our marketing and communications strategy.
Responsibilities will include:
*       Assist in developing marketing materials and content for AEO website and external communications
*       Manage the outreach and communication activities to both entrepreneurs and member organizations (including lenders and service organizations)
*       Monitor and track media impressions and microbusiness representation across all media segments and outlets
*       Increase social media presence and visibility by producing and repurposing content, starting conversations, and engaging stakeholders
*       Opportunity to represent AEO at various conferences where appropriate
Qualifications:
At least 2 years of completed college coursework towards degree in journalism, marketing, business or communications; strong computer skills, including social media experience; proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; self-motivated, with the ability to work independently; and strong organizational and time-management skills.
