Entry-Level Communications Role, Platts/The McGraw-Hill Companies,
New York, N.Y.

Platts, a leading global provider of energy, petrochemicals and metals information, is seeking a summer intern to fulfill diverse internal and external communications responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be a PR or journalism graduate with top-notch writing skills and extreme attention to detail who wants to move into a permanent communications position.  (Our last intern joined us three summers ago and just transferred to London.)

Responsibilities include writing and posting content to a new intranet; writing and laying out the internal newsletter; monitoring and developing reports on Platts’ media coverage; distributing a variety of media alerts and press releases; assisting with our online media center and social media initiatives; and developing photo and bio libraries.

Candidates must have college or internship experience in journalism or PR.  Strong writing, organizational and grammatical/proofreading skills are absolute requirements.  Experience with Vocus, Factiva, web content
management systems, social media programs, and applications such as Dreamweaver and Photoshop are a huge plus; so is knowledge of HTML.

The successful candidate will work in the heart of New York City in a multicultural organization that operates 24/7 through more than 15 offices worldwide. S/he will also benefit from participating in a highly structured internship program that provides exposure to McGraw-Hill’s leadership and diverse businesses.

Interested candidates should send a cover letter, resume, and writing samples to:  pwood@nyc.rr.com.  Please put “Intern Candidate” in the subject line and make sure the file name for your resume includes your name.  Candidates with strong prospects for the role will be contacted and asked to apply online when the position is officially posted on the McGraw-Hill career site.
