The Communications Associate reports to the Communications Director and assists the Director, operationally and strategically, to ensure the smooth operations of the department and to support marketing, communications, and institutional goals while maintaining the integrity of the Fuller Craft brand.

Responsibilities include: 

Design: Design posters, postcards, invitations, stationery, badges, etc. and assist in design and distribution of newsletter. 
Communications support: proof-reading, editing of written, spoken, web-based communications. • Maintain and update website. 
Organize, maintain and archive all Museum collateral materials. Press: Maintain Press Book of media coverage. 
Social Media: Maintain department and social media calendar. Make updates from the office and home. Postings on Thursday-Sunday. 
Marketing: Assist Communications Director in market research activities to identify targeted populations and identify appropriate media for distribution of promotional information. 


Develop audience surveys to evaluate target audience needs and effectiveness of marketing strategies. Assist in development of advertising campaigns for various media; providing written materials, images, etc. to Communications Director for production. 
Assist Communications Director in preparing marketing proposals; writing and assisting in the design and production of printed promotional materials; and conducting program evaluation reports. 
Represent the organization at various community and/or business meetings to promote existing and new programs and/or policies. 
Where necessary serve as a liaison with other Museum departments requesting marketing & communications support. 
Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:

  • B.A. degree, marketing experience required, art experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of communication principles, marketing, media
  • Graphic design skills, knowledge of Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, HTML
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate media activities and special events.
  • Knowledge of advertising principles, strategies and techniques.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

Strong writing and editing skills

Knowledge of budgets, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures.

Ability to work in a fast paced environment, motivated self-starter.
