Community Events & Promotions Internship, Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, GA

Community Events and Promotions Interns assist in ensuring Georgia Aquarium representation at community events, School internship fairs, Expos, and other events. Interns will work alongside the Community Event Specialist in gathering event information, preparing the Aquarium booth, scheduling & training volunteers, conducting event follow up, and assisting at events. Individuals will gain hands-on experience in events and promotions from an operations perspective. Interns will also be asked to perform various administrative duties and assist the Community Event Specialist in day-to-day office tasks.

Internship Dates: February-May
Schedule: Varies; evening and weekend work required
Minimum Required Hours per Week: 20

  • Major in non-profit management, event management, hospitality or related field preferred
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills as well as superior attention to detail

Executive Administration Interns will gain insight into non-profit administration through daily responsibilities including assistance with board presentations, development of agendas for Senior Level Management meetings, electronic filing of sensitive documents and notetaking. Interns will also implement proper meeting protocol following Robert's Rules of Order. The interns will communicate on all levels of the organization and with zoo and aquarium community as well as government agencies.

Internship Dates: Flexible
Schedule: 3 days a week
Minimum Required Hours per Week: 20
Additional Application Requirements:
  • Major in Business Administration or Non-Profit Management preferred, but not required
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Exceptional customer service and professionalism
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Powerpoint
  • Detail-oriented
  • Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
