Account Executive, Spectrum, Washington DC


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Engage in regular client contact on project implementation, status as needed
  • Participate in client meetings and develop reports on outcomes as needed
  • Research and understand client issues, competitor environment and media landscape
  • Track media and internet coverage/trends for clients and agency interests
  • Develop and update media and internet contact lists
  • Assist senior team members in developing messaging strategies
  • Write scientific and lay media materials – backgrounders and press releases
  • Manage media material assembly and distribution
  • Media outreach – successfully and aggressively pitch client stories to news media, shifting angles and approaches as needed
  • Build relationships with reporters covering clients’ interests and act as a resource for story development
  • Track and develop media outreach and event reports
  • Conduct background research on behalf of clients, new business efforts
  • Research and develop lists of organizations for community/professional outreach
  • Arrange logistics for medical meetings and special events and some oversight of budgets, vendors
  • Manage vendor relationships
  • Video production – script development, conducting shoots on site, edit sessions
  • Stakeholder contact – assist in liaison with celebrities, health professionals and other spokespeople and third-party groups/partners
  • Coordinate activity at medical meetings, media activities, special events
  • Assist in developing and executing special projects such as opinion research, advertisements, printed materials
  • Assist in developing potential and existing client program plans and budgets
  • Occasional direction provided to interns and Account Coordinators for support on projects
  • Proactive participation in staff meetings and development courses
Required Education, Experience & Skills:
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of professional public relations / agency experience
  • Ability to effectively work on multiple accounts concurrently
  • Solid oral communication, writing and editing skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work in a faced-paced work environment with multiple priorities
