Are you a Facebook addict? Find yourself entangled in the blogosphere? Love animals too?

Humane Society International is seeking an intern to support online communication, awareness, and outreach efforts for our fundraising and advocacy campaigns.

We're looking for someone who knows about social networking and blogs, but more importantly wants to learn how to crack these sites' potential in getting people involved to help animals. Specifically, the intern will help to manage social networking profiles, respond to reader comments in the blogosphere, and expand our network of friends and supporters online by actively participating in the blogosphere and on social networks.

You'll learn about our existing presence on these sites as well as research and implement ways to improve it. This is a great opportunity to use the skills that you have gained by doing things you do every day online for fun, all while making a difference in the lives of animals across the globe.

No specific academic major is required; however, candidates will be familiar with Web 2.0 technologies such as widgets and RSS, have a basic knowledge of animal welfare and protection issues, and exhibit good judgment when communicating online.

Internship is for 3 months, minimum of 10 hours per week, and can be eligible for course credit. This position is located in our Gaithersburg, MD office, with some telecommuting possible.

Please note that this internship is unpaid.
