Disney Institute Public Relations Internship Company Overview: Since its opening in 1971, the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, FL has grown to feature four theme parks – the Magic Kingdom® Park, Epcot®, Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park. In addition, more than 20 themed resort hotels, two water parks, and the Downtown Disney® Area, a daytime and nighttime entertainment complex, are part of the Walt Disney World Resort. Department Overview: Disney Institute is the global professional training arm of The Walt Disney Company. One of the most recognized names in professional development, Disney Institute offers engaging seminars, workshops and presentations as well as fully customized programming at Disney destinations in the Americas, Europe and Asia and client sites around the world. Disney Institute Public Relations is responsible for supporting sales and marketing efforts and managing the organization’s reputation among global trade and business media.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to support of PR efforts for Disney Institute business. As part of the department’s core business, interns assist with:
Soliciting editorial coverage in business and trade publications, and scheduling client and executive interviews, monitoring and reporting ROI generated by PR efforts and other media-related projects.
Writing press releases, case studies, bylined articles
Maintaining clips and regularly issuing media-coverage summary reports
Maintaining databases for media information, client interviews, projects and other related information
Tracking and reporting departmental expenses; reconciling costs against operating budget
Coordinating media visits (arranging hotel stays, dining reservations, local transportation, etc.) and co-hosting media on an as-needed basis
Supporting internal public relations and communication efforts
Support social media platforms
Providing general administrative support
Assisting with special projects as needed

Basic Qualifications
These are the minimum qualifications you need to be considered for this position:
Currently earning a college/university degree as a junior or senior majoring in communications/ journalism or public relations
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Familiarity with AP style
Proven self-starter and ability to balance multiple priorities
Strong partnering and relationship skills
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook

Preferred Qualifications
Previous internship experience in Journalism, Public Relations, Social Media or Marketing
Previous reporting/writing experience with a student or professional publication, television station or website
