Community Relations Manager - Detroit Pistons (Auburn Hills, MI)

Palace Sports & Entertainment is now hiring a Community Relations Manager. This is a Full-Time position with benefits.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Manage all aspects of department functions, including planning and development of programming, event management, the Pistons-Palace Foundation, corporate and media partnerships, and all day-day departmental functions.

Pistons Programming and Event Management:
• Assist Department Head in drafting and implementing annual strategic plan and community calendar, establishing primary and secondary programming and day-to-day management and development of staff
• Plan, develop and manage community programming and events
• Plan, develop and manage secondary programming, including signature player events
• Conduct site-visits for various programming, including renovation projects
• Manage Community Night program at The Palace
• Schedule and execute on-court presentations
• Draft all scripts for on-court presentations
• Communications liaison with players and player representatives
• Develop and maintain partnerships with non-profit and local organizations
• Draft, monitor and maintain overall CR budget as well as individual event budgets
• Create tax letters for all monetary donations
• Co-point in fulfilling player ticket section requirements including: ordering t-shirts, banners, artwork, and working with various community organizations
• Maintain CR web presence
• Execute communications elements, including writing press releases, servicing media at community events, CR e-newsletter, annual report and in-arena CR branding

Corporate and Media Partnerships:
• Liaise with corporate marketing department to recruit and secure corporate partners in conjunction with corporate marketing and marketing staff—creating packages, negotiating partnerships and execution

Pistons-Palace Foundation:
• Track all donations to Pistons-Palace Foundation, Palacevision, sponsorship and miscellaneous (in conjunction with accounting)
• Assist within fundraising efforts, including in-arena fundraising and special events
• Assist with grant and scholarship programming
• Assist in on-going revitalization project to revamp Foundation’s mission, Board, bylaws and grant giving process
• Assist with board meetings
• Manage PPF-related document dissemination to the appropriate channels

Miscellaneous:
• Actively contribute to community ticket sales efforts
• Support CR staff with supervising of interns
• CR representative at weekly promotions meetings
• Develop planning to increase and enhance player imaging locally and nationally
• Responsible for scheduling and executing community ambassador appearances
• Join boards, committees and other external organizations as necessary
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree or higher
• Minimum 3-5 years experience within community relations and/or event planning
• The ideal candidate will also have previous experience working in or with public relations, marketing and sales
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required
• Must have well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to a wide variety of audiences, demonstrating strong communication skills
• Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
• Ability to work long hours, nights, weekends and holidays
• Must be self-confident and resilient and possess a high energy level and enthusiasm
• Must be dynamic, forward thinking, extremely analytical and well organized
• Must be flexible and reliable team player, both within own department and within company as a whole
