Communications Coordinator, The Weather Channel, Atlanta, Ga.


Position Available: Communications Coordinator 

The Weather Channel is looking for a Communications Coordinator to assist the department in achieving communications goals by executing a variety of public relations tactics in the areas of external and internal communications.

Specific Responsibilities:
- Executes outreach/PR for key initiatives such as: Programming, Talent, Executive, Stunts, etc.
- Responsible for morning internal press clipping packet.
- Acts as programming liaison by attending all meetings to write up media alerts; this includes dubbing programming and getting copies to appropriate people
- Assists in the execution of relevant events such as: TCA, NCTA, Hurricane Conferences, etc.
- Assists in the write ups and submission for relevant awards.
- Drafts media pitches, cover letters, press releases, etc.
- Utilizes PR software to assemble media lists and manage press release distribution
- Assists with internal communications including managing Intranet, Open Forums and communication of other company news and events
- Strong computer skills including: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SalesForce
- Responds to viewer mail and calls and alerts internal departments as needed
- Executes media alerts when TWC is in specific markets for severe weather
- Conducts hyper local outreach for specific local programming



Qualified candidates will have:
- Bachelors Degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field preferred.
- 1-3 years PR experience, preferably in a PR agency
- Strong writing skills
- Creative and innovative
- Ability to establish and maintain effective communication, in both written and spoken forms, with internal and external partners
- Accountable self-starter with "can-do" attitude.
- Strong skills in listening, recalling information and following direction
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to deal with time sensitive and pressured situations
- Ability to handle challenges and provide quality solutions within budget.
- Demonstrated familiarity and knowledge of online, social media and blogging community.
- Thrives in fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel, Internet Explorer, Powerpoint, etc.
