The City of Edmonton

As a Strategic Advisor, Corporate Communications, you will plan and manage the overall provision of communication services to the Corporate Services Department and Council Services, by preparing strategic communications plans that align business and corporate communication goals. Responsibilities will include:

· Leading and implementing long-term strategic plans and corporate communications policies that align with, and contribute to, the Strategic Corporate Communications Plan for the City of Edmonton

· Influencing and providing direction to professionals who provide communications service to various client departments and branches

· Recommending budget and resource requirements to ensure the effective delivery of high quality, strategic and proactive corporate communications services

· Preparing and overseeing various longer-term communications initiatives

· Developing proactive issues management and communications planning and strategy development while supporting, reactive, day-to-day issues management

· Establishing and monitoring results-oriented performance measures tracking advancement of the image and reputation of the City of Edmonton

· Collaborating with various stakeholders to identify and provide strategic media relations and influencing support, including environmental scanning and analytical services on policy, competitive comparisons, emerging issues, day-to-day media response, and proactive and reactive message management

Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.



Salary Range: 91M, Salary Grade: PT3, $73,490.00 - $104,985.00 (Annually).

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
· University degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Political Science or related area

· Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible communications experience in complex public sector organization

· Thorough knowledge and demonstrated results in the effective application of best-practice strategic communications approaches, processes and services

· Proven program, event planning and project management skills

· Ability to work at all levels of an organization

· Proven ability to effectively and strategically work in a highly ambiguous, dynamic and demanding day-to-day environment prone to ongoing issues management
