PRSSA National Conference

Hello Georgia State University!!
For those of you who may not know me, my name is Erika Ludwig and I am the Sponsorship Coordinator for PRSSA at Georgia State University. I am contributing to this blog with updates from the PRSSA National Conference in San Diego! Let me first say that I suggest anyone who is a PR concentration major to attend the PRSSA National Conference next year! I am having such a wonderful time, and I am meeting people from all over the nation.

I came here, to the National Conference by myself. I admit that I was a little nervous, but I assure you that I do not regret my decision in attending the PRSSA National Conference at all. I am rooming with some ladies from Florida, Washinton D.C. and Boston and I couldn't be happier! My advice to you all is that if you ever have an opportunity to experience something new, (even if you're alone in your journey) DO IT!! Never let anything hold you back from accomplishing the things you want to do, and stay strong in your passions in life.

Throughout the weekend I will be attending various workshops which include Event Planning, International PR, Media Relations, Trends, Nonprofit PR, Public Affairs, Entertainment, and so much more! I will update you all with information from the workshops I attend, so that all of you are kept in the loop!

We just got out of the Keynote Address and Chapter Roll Call. The keynote speaker was Mona Pasquil. Pasquil served on the senior staff for the Kerry Edwards presidential campaign as Deputy Political Director for Constituency Groups. A longtime leader in the Asian Pacific Islander American community, Pasquil previously served as political director for Governor Gray Davis, California political director for Gore/Lieberman 2000, deputy CEO for the 2000 Democratic National Convention, western political director in the Clinton White House, western political desk and director of Asian Pacific affairs at the DNC. She gave an amazing speech about never giving up and standing up for you are.
As you know, in PR there will be times when you may be asked to keep quiet, or even lie in order for your cooperation, client, etc to "look good." Even though it seems appealing, ethically this is wrong. No matter if the truth looks good or bad, it is what it is. Public Relations is a great profession with the power to do great things. Never misuse this power.

For those of you who are interested, I am listing my email address in case you would like to email me. I will do my best to bring back everything I learn here to Georgia State essentially helping our chapter grow and stay connected with other chapters from across the nation.

I hope you all are doing well, and look for more postings as the weekend continues!!

Best,
Erika A. Ludwig

  2. One of the best things about conferences is that you never know who you are going to meet or what you are going to learn. Thanks for the updates Erika! TR Morris
