Please Note: Internships are UNPAID and structured to last approximately 12 weeks. Course Credit is available.

Students should have a strong academic record (3.0 strongly preferred) and good character. Students must have completed their sophomore year in college prior to the start of the internship. In addition, students may not have graduated college or graduate school prior to the start of the internship (i.e. students must still be enrolled in school during the time of the internship). Students seeking college credit are strongly encouraged to apply. Note to International Students: All international students will be required to provide documentation of proper visa paperwork prior to your arrival if accepted to the program. Only J1 or F1 visas will be accepted.

Deadline to apply for Spring Internships is December 11, 2009. Due to the high volume of candidates for Turner’s Internship Program, interested students are encouraged to apply for openings as soon as possible, as these positions will be filled on an ongoing basis. Future semester Internship postings will be available after the current semester deadline.

Department:
The Cartoon Network Public Relations Department develops and implements all internal and external communication strategies for Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang and leverages these brands across multiple media platforms including print, broadcast and digital by disseminating news releases, facilitating interviews and producing media events.

Cartoon Network (CartoonNetwork.com), currently seen in more than 97 million U.S. homes and 166 countries around the world, is Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.’s ad-supported cable service now available in HD offering the best in original, acquired and classic entertainment for youth and families. Nightly from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. (ET, PT), Cartoon Network shares its channel space with Adult Swim, a late-night destination showcasing original and acquired animated and live-action series for young adults 18-34.

Potential Opportunities
This internship is based in Atlanta, Georgia. Students will have the opportunity to learn and observe a number of functions within the department. They will assist the public relations team with daily tasks such as updating media lists, viewer relations, organizing press clippings, etc. The intern will have the opportunity to be mentored by various persons in the department and sit in on strategy sessions and assist in the execution of PR plans developed for various shows and network initiatives.

Qualifications
To facilitate the learning experience, the following qualifications are preferred: Should be able to commit to 12 weeks of the internship and work 15-20 hours per week for academic credit. (Students will be asked for proof of the credit prior to the start of the internship). Candidate should be seeking a career in Communications, Public Relations and/or Marketing--should be self-motivated with the ability to work with a team and function well in an environment with short deadlines and simultaneous multiple projects. Candidate should also have working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer programs, along with some experience in socials media/networking.
