Public Affairs Internship at LRG, Inc. in Washington, DC

LRG is accepting applicants for its Winter 2011 internship program and is looking for a candidate with an academic background in communications/public relations, organizing events, developing marketing/ communications strategies, and facilitating education and outreach activities with Members of Congress.

Qualifications: Applicants need at least a 3.0 average and must have completed their junior year of undergraduate study. Applications are welcomed from students with concentrations in all major areas, but academic or practical backgrounds in journalism, political science, social media, or marketing are given first consideration. This position is part-time and we would prefer a current student.  Applicants will also be expected to:
 * Have a good command of spoken and written English (short writing sample required).
 * Be comfortable calling, speaking on the phone with contacts.
 * Draft for supervisory revision short articles/press releases on assigned topics, including some basic research and fact-checking.
 * Be familiar through class work or direct experience with basic concepts of branding, positioning and online reputation management
 * Have basic competence with: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat Reader; Acrobat Pro. 
 * Have basic familiarity with standard browsers, aggregators, and social media use and maintenance.
 * Have basic experience with website content management systems. The intern will support the development of a new LRG website, including "look and feel," layout, content, social media components and feeds.
 * Have better than average competence with online research.
 * Experience with graphic design software – preferably InDesign CS4 – or advanced graphic design skills a plus.
 * Experience with special event organizing a plus

Special consideration will be given to those who have experience with InDesign and Wordpress.
