Join Hands On Atlanta, one of Atlanta’s most highly respected and recognized nonprofit organizations. As a contractor with of Hands On Atlanta, you will play a vital role in strengthening our community, and bringing Atlantans together to address our city’s most critical issues.


The Communications Contractor is responsible for creating, implementing and overseeing Hands On Atlanta’s communications programs that effectively describe and promote the organization. The Communications Contractor will work directly with the Development Director.


Essential Responsibilities:


• Enforces the Hands On Atlanta brand and messaging consistently throughout all materials organization wide
• Plans, develops and implements an annual communications plan to include social media, print, public relations, special events, branding and marketing initiatives
• Develops and manage key organizational language including writing copy for print and online publications, speaking points and run of show for events
• Write and distribute press releases and media alerts
• Establish and cultivate relationships with media representatives and outside suppliers
• Design and produce High Five, Hands On Atlanta’s bi-monthly e-blast as well as various programmatic and event-related collateral materials maintaining the visual standards of the organization
• Manage all external communications including email distribution to volunteers and key stakeholders donor mailings and appeals
• Maintain the integrity of the organization’s website with current information and brand equity
• Promote special events such as Hands On Atlanta Day, Taste for Volunteering, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service and Global Youth Service Day
• Work with Hands On Atlanta staff to develop more efficient ways to showcase Hands On Atlanta’s programs and benefits of volunteering to the Atlanta community


Required Qualifications:


• Bachelor’s degree in communications or marketing
• Three to five years of experience in public relations, communications strategy, and/or marketing communications
• Two to five years of project management experience; ability to create and execute the vision
• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including exceptional writing and presentation skills and the ability to translate ideas into clear, compelling proposals and presentations
• Self-motivated with demonstrated success in working as a member of a team, developing and managing effective working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external audiences
• Ability to think creatively, tactically and strategically, and be flexible when a change in direction is needed
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in graphic design
• A commitment to community service is essential
