PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Candidate will smoothly integrate and be part of day-to-day duties within the communications department, as well as special projects. Candidate will work closely with members of the communications department, a support arm for all of Mercy Corps’ global programs providing public relations and media relations.
OBJECTIVES: Internship will help candidate develop basic communications methods, working with media, responding to media requests, and providing support to department colleagues as well as external parties.
DELIVERABLES: Candidate will work on projects such as organizing media lists and video database, basic story pitching, administrative duties.
IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS: Ideal candidate will be pursuing studies in communications or similar and be familiar with basic concepts of public relations, media relations, communications, social networking.
Mercy Corps Team members represent the agency both during and outside of work hours when deployed in a field posting or on a visit/TDY to a field posting. Staff are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and respect local laws, customs and MC's policies, procedures, and values at all times and in all in-country venues.
