GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Exciting opportunity to work in the fast-paced environment of the NBA. The Timberwolves seek one full-time, paid associate during the 2011-12 NBA season (Sept. - April) to assist members of the public relations department. Candidate will work very closely on the day-to-day operations, strategies and objectives of the department. Attendance at all Timberwolves home games is required and the job includes some weekend work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Overseeing the teams' media monitoring system
• Managing the teams' news clippings system
• Serving as the department’s contact person for community newspapers
• Credentialing media members
• Compiling and delivering media packets
• Working with the NBA's stats system
• Occasional writing (press releases, Wolves publications, etc.)
• Assisting the media on game nights
• Game night set up and takedown (media room and press row)
• Assisting with media interview requests
• Pitching stories and developing mini PR campaigns surrounding team events
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Demonstrated organizational skills and detail-oriented
• Able to multi-task under time constraints
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to work with a wide variety of people
• Strong writing and communication skills required
• Previous public/media relations or sports information experience preferred
• College graduate
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

• As needed to meet Qualifications and/or Experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
