Special Events Internship, American Diabetes Association, New York City

DESCRIPTION
Title: Special Events Intern

Duration: Seasonal or yearly; Applications/resumes are received on a rolling basis
Hours: 10-20 hours per week (flexible)

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) seeks highly motivated, self-starting students who are passionate about public health, special events planning, and community outreach. The Special Events Assistant will provide support to ADA staff while gaining valuable skills and insights on event planning, fundraising, and community engagement. This opportunity is available at our field office in midtown, Manhattan.

Responsibilities: Supports our signature community fundraising events – Tour de Cure & Step Out at the local level; Aiding in the writing, developing, and marketing of communication and promotional tools; Conduct research and outreach to organizations across sectors. This internship though unpaid can be used for class credit and/or focus project adaptable. Background or studying in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, Nonprofit Management or other related fields are encouraged to apply.

Transportation: Responsible for own travel expenses. Located at 333 7th Avenue, Manhattan, NY 10001; Near the 1, 2, 3, A, B, C, D, E, F, N, Q, R trains.



REQUIREMENTS
* Excellent writing, research and communication skills
* Currently enrolled as a undergraduate student, graduate student, or recent graduate
* Related work experience
* Ability to prioritize and handle a variety of assignments simultaneously
* Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Internet, email and networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter
