Rodale is currently seeking a Junior Publicist for the Men’s Health and Women’s Health brands in its New York City office. This individual will serve as part of 5-person internal team, reporting to the Senior Director of Communications. He or she will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of the PR department, supporting the editorial, digital and publishing arms of the brand.
Responsibilities will include:
- Pitch consumer placements in national and local broadcast, print and online media - Coordinate TV segments and print interviews: talking points, research, spokesperson preparation and products/props - Write press materials including releases, pitches, biographies, and one sheets - Maintain and update press lists - Generate email blasting, project history recaps and internal clips - Track daily and monthly PR updates and work closely with monitoring services
Ideal candidate will possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Public Relations, or Liberal Arts is required - 2-3 years of experience in Public/Media Relations, with a strong history of national and local TV, Print and Online placements - Must be a smart, energetic, creative, enthusiastic self-starter for with the ability work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines - Must be an excellent writer and communicator, with the ability to identify news hooks and write strong pitches, be able to juggle and coordinate multiple projects and tasks and be very detail-oriented - Magazine/book/online publicity strongly preferred, interest in health and fitness a plus - Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Cision required.
