Public Relations Intern, Rialto Center for the Arts (Atlanta, Ga.)


Job Title: Public Relations Intern
                Rialto Center for the Arts, Marketing and Public Relations Department

Purpose: The Public Relations Intern in the Marketing and Public Relations department at the Rialto Center for the Arts provides general public relations support to the Manager of Marketing and Public Relations and the Rialto Center.


Overall Learning Goals and Final Project:

The internship will consist of three core areas: writing, proofing, and editing.  The goal is for the intern to finish the term with a higher proficiency in each of these areas and to have portfolios with finished press releases, e-news and website copy, public service announcements and other items for future job interviews.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Researches Rialto events and artists and writes press releases, public service announcements, commercial spots, newsletter and website text
  • Proof-reads press releases, letters, and other copy written by the public relations manager to gain editing experience
  • Presents written copy to public relations manager and receives feedback and correction
  • Researches new Atlanta media outlets for print, radio, television, web, and other outlets
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Website and E-marketing experience or ability
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of office policies and procedures
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
