PUBLIC RELATIONS/COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

Internship Goals:

The Georgia Association of REALTORS® is the largest trade association in the state with more than 33,000 members. GAR’s internship program is designed to help students gain communication and public relations experience in a professional setting while incorporating the theories and skills they have gained through their academic study. GAR wants to provide a learning environment where interns are challenged, but not overwhelmed. A student who desires an internship with GAR should have excellent written and oral communication skills.

As an intern for GAR you will gain valuable experience working with a non-profit organization. During your time with GAR, you will also learn about the production of Georgia REALTOR® magazine. Reporting Relationship:

Interns report to the Communications Manager.

Internship responsibilities include:

Develop and maintain media lists for each local board
Writing press releases
Assist in the development of press materials including fact sheets and bios
Participate in brainstorms and research
Aid in the editing of eNewsletters and other written material
Support the development and implementation of public awareness campaign or other internal marketing campaigns
Assisting with day-to-day needs of the communication department
Assist with GAR’s social media endeavors



Minimum Qualifications:

College junior or senior seeking school credit for internship
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Design skills a plus
Flexibility to work on a variety of projects
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and the Adobe Suite
Knowledgeable of AP style guidelines
Must have a basic understanding of public relations through course work or prior internship experience

This internship is offered for both the Spring and Fall semesters. Hours are flexible within our hours of operation (8:00 am – 5:00 pm).
