The Atlanta Voice Internship Program

The purpose of The Atlanta Voice internship program is to provide students interested in the areas of journalism, public relations, marketing, advertising, promotions and any related communications field the opportunity to gain knowledge and hands on experience in their field of interest. The Atlanta Voice’s Internship Program serves to provide students with the skills necessary to have the opportunity for optimal career placement, and the experience and confidence to perform the duties and tasks of various communications related fields.

The ideal applicant should be an undergraduate or a graduate student pursuing a degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or any related field. The applicant should be well versed on current events, have excellent verbal and written communications skills, and possess the ability to work in a fast paced environment on a collaborative team.

Journalism
-research
-writing reviews, columns, blog entries when assigned
-schedule interviews
-cover events

Marketing/Promotions
-contact and establish advertising leads
-email capture
-support the marketing team with campaigns
-maintain and update contact logs

Events
-create events catering to our targeted demographic
-represent The Atlanta Voice at various events and maintain vendor booth
-set up and break down

Circulation
-review distribution locations
-designate 100 locations to reach our targeted audience
-distribute and collect vendor forms verifying placement of racks/boxes

Clerical
-maintain spreadsheet with advertising leads
-filing, faxing, copying and mailing
-record notes from meetings
-check voicemails
